Ok, the whole story is that my four year old daughter gets to use my computer for playing games. I have set up her own folder and she is actually very good at navigating. I use a rolling track ball instead of a mouse and she is better at using it than I am.
Apparently the 'shift' key was stuck down, and so when she would try to access her folder it would highlight most of the icons on the desktop. And then the next time she would click, it would copy all of the highlighted ones.
But she is persistant.
I found 38 shortcuts to many of the icons from my desktop.
Cleaned it all up inside of a minute by going into the Documents and going to the Desktop folder and erasing everything that began with the word "shortcut to" or ended in a (#).
She was mostly afraid that I would be mad. But personally I just thought it was cute.
