Harvest Moon

One more piece of useless trivia.
Tonight is the Harvest Moon.
Make sure to go outside tonight and look at the moon. It's going to be HUGE.
The moon is at it's closest point in it's orbit around the earth. So a little after 11:00, 10:00 Central, it will be the biggest, fullest moon of the year.

Won't it be a fun night at work tonight?

I'm on Eastern time, but I don't know if I'll be up that late. But if I am, I'll go look! It's clear here tonight. It's something I never would have known about if not for your blog!

Is it your opinion that weird things happen around a hospital during the full moon?

I tell you what, it suprised the hell out of me. For the west coast, it was biggest around 9:00 or so and it was HUGE.

I never used to believe that the phase of the moon could affect people's behavior. Until I became a nurse.
They actually did a study a while back to see how the behavior in hospitals during a full moon compared to under other phases.
The results were mixed.
The conclusion that they posted was the most unusual I have ever seen.
"Under a full moon, the patients in a hospital showed no change in behavior except in cases where the staff was aware that the moon was full"
Whatever that means.

Ironically, I worked all weekend and did not see the moon. I hear it was great though.

It was great! I had insomnia (a relatively frequent thing lately) and got to see it at 11:15 p.m. Eastern time. Nice!!!
